an old postcard from Tetuan, Morocco

now that I’ve got a used scanner my friend gave me late last year, I’ll be posting pictures!  yay!  This is Tetuan, a city 40 miles from Tangiers.  This is Jarrazin Street (or Rue Jarrazin in French.)  This is how some of the shops looked when I was there.  Most of the merchants were men.  Note the beautiful and affordable leather purses on the left.  The woman in white is carrying a table she bought and a tote bag full of what looks like onions.  Like Southern Spain, the housewives shopped for meat and all perishables almost daily since they lived in such tiny homes and perhaps did not have refrigeration.
