cake baking tips (simple, dazzle your family!)

Here are two tips from women I used to work for. They always brought delicious, moist cakes to work. One woman took a cake baking & decorating class in town. She said to always remove your cake from the oven 10 minutes earlier. This ensured a tastier cake, less dried out. The second woman said to always add one more egg to the batter than the recipe recommended. This would make the cake richer (if it was a yellow cake, it had a deeper color). Keep in mind these are just everyday cakes you would bake for your family. Not a “super special” cake meant for weddings or events like that, you know the ones I’m taking about. The kind with specific icing, cake toppers. This is just for your family or the type you take to work for co-workers. Also, do you say “icing” or “frosting?”

how to mix your fruit Jello or pudding mix faster

After several decades of cooking at home, I am always on the lookout for easier and neater ways to mix ingredients. Here is a way to fix your fruit flavor Jello. Use less water than the box recommends (up to 1/2 c.) This will ensure you have a more firm finished product. Put the hot water in the dish (or cooking pot) FIRST. Then add the powder. It won’t stick to the sides and bottom. PUDDING MIX– use recommended amount of cold milk. Also put the milk in first, dry pudding second.
